VA AAHAM Community Service

December 2025

At each of our conferences, the Virginia Chapter selects an organization to highlight and give back to. As our Winter conference is always near the Christmas holiday, we elect each year to give to Toys for Tots 🧸 .

Founded in 1991, The Marine Corps Toys for Tots program helps to bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's economically disadvantaged children through the gift of a new toy.

Each season during our Winter Education Conference, VA AAHAM provides toys to children via the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.  For more information on the program click HERE.

August 2024

As we make the slow but steady transition into Fall, VA AAHAM was brought to gorgeous Charlottesville, Virginia for our Fall conference.  While nestled deep in the Blue Ridge, we were able to support the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.  This organization serves neighbors in need in 25 counties and nine cities through distribution centers in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester and Verona. April 2024

In April 2024, we held our Spring Conference.  This was a wonderful partnership between VA AAHAM and the Virginia-Washington DC Chapter of HFMA in Roanoke, Virginia.  With the spirit of looking ahead and sharing healthcare knowledge, we were able to also contribute a Food and Funds Drive to support Feeding Southwest Virginia.  This food bank serves 26 counties and 9 cities across a region where 1 in 8people and 1 in 5 kids face hunger.  For more information on the program, click HERE.

March 2022

In March  2022, we were honored to raffle off a gift basket to raise funds for their very important mission. With our members help, we were able to donate $205 to this wonderful organization.

All Blessings Flow is a local faith-based non-profit organization that was founded to improve the quality of life of individuals living with disabilities. Our primary mission is to provide medical equipment free of charge to those in need in Charlottesville, Albemarle, and surrounding counties. For a disabled person in need, a piece of medical equipment can be a life-changing blessing.

Update on 1/4/2021

Dear Virginia AAHAM Members:

Good afternoon and Happy New Year!

This email serves a dual purpose today. First, I want to send out a last request for recipes for our AMOR Healing Kitchen cookbook fundraiser. My second purpose, is to forward our Annual Virginia Chapter of AAHAM 2020 Committee Report, which you can find here. It is a bit late, but it is finally complete. Please take a moment to review it and forward any questions to my attention.

As a reminder, if you have a desire to send in recipes, you may do so as follows:

Take a copy or photograph of your recipe(s) and email to me at [email protected]. You can even text them to 207-754-9898. I will be happy to enter it into the cookbook for you. If you prefer to enter your own recipes you may do so as follows:

Thank you for supporting this worthy cause and showing your Virginia AAHAM pride! Looking forward to seeing you at some point in 2021!

Update 11/23/2020

Dear Virginia AAHAM Members:

As you know, the Virginia AAHAM Chapter is pleased to participate with the Keystone, Philadelphia, Three Rivers and Maryland Chapters of AAHAM in a fundraising endeavor. Virginia AAHAM and the other AAHAM Chapters have joined together across borders, along with Amor Healing Kitchen, to create a cookbook.

AMOR Healing Kitchen, located in Charleston, SC, provides nutritious, healthy food prepared by high school students and delivered by community volunteers. Every week, AMOR’s Teen Chefs and Kitchen Mentors prepare these delicious meals to people undergoing or recovering from treatment for Cancer, Diabetes, HIV, and more.

We are asking our Virginia AAHAM members to donate your favorite recipes (possibly Virginia inspired). The cookbook will include 300 recipes with AMOR contributing healthy recipes. Our goal is to sell 1,000 cookbooks.

Please see the attached letter for specifics on how you can donate your favorite recipe. Please note, we have simplified the recipe submission process.

Thank you for supporting this worthy cause by participating and showing your Virginia AAHAM pride!

Linda Patry, CRCE
